A forgotten Prohibition gem with grapefruit and raspberry
First published in Patrick Gavin Duffy's "Official Mixer's Manual" (1934). It disappeared for decades before being rediscovered in the cocktail renaissance.
Make your own by muddling fresh raspberries with simple syrup, or use a quality brand like Small Hand Foods. Chambord can substitute in a pinch.
Ruby red grapefruit is sweeter and pairs better with the raspberry. White grapefruit makes a more tart, sophisticated version.
