An elegant Old Fashioned variation from 1950s New York
First appeared in Crosby Gaige's "Cocktail Guide and Ladies' Companion" (1941). It's essentially an Old Fashioned with maraschino replacing the sugar.
This clear cherry liqueur (not the syrup from maraschino cherries!) adds complex, slightly funky cherry and almond notes. Luxardo is the gold standard.
The dual bitters add complexity. If you only have one type, use Angostura but consider adding a small orange peel expression.
