Bourbon meets coffee liqueur in this modern classic

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Add bourbon, coffee liqueur, and orange bitters to a mixing glass.
  2. Fill with ice and stir for 30 seconds until well chilled.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass.
  4. Hold a lit match between the orange peel and the drink. Express the oils through the flame to "flame" the peel, then drop it in.

Pro Tips

🔥 Flaming the Peel

Hold the peel about 4 inches above the drink with a lit match between. Squeeze firmly – the oils will ignite briefly, adding a caramelized orange aroma.

☕ Coffee Liqueur Selection

Mr. Black or other quality coffee liqueurs are less sweet than Kahlúa and let the coffee and bourbon shine through better.

🌟 Origin

Created by Jon Santer at Bruno's in San Francisco in 2004. It's become a staple of the modern cocktail renaissance.
