Instructions

  1. Fill a highball glass with ice.
  2. Add tequila and orange juice, stir to combine.
  3. Slowly pour grenadine down the inside of the glass – it will sink.
  4. Let it settle to create the sunrise effect.
  5. Garnish with an orange slice and cherry. Don't stir!

Pro Tips

🌅 The Effect

The grenadine sinks because it's denser than OJ. As you drink, the colors mix naturally. Stirring defeats the purpose!

🎸 Rock 'n' Roll History

The drink gained fame during the Rolling Stones' 1972 "Cocaine and Tequila Sunrise Tour." Mick Jagger reportedly ordered them at every stop.
